Matthew 21:18-22
This portion of scripture focuses on what doubt can do to a person, and how life-giving faith is. This particular passage of scripture talks refers to Jesus and his disciples as they were walking back to the city. They were hungry, and came upon a fig tree. The fig tree did not contain any fruits, so Jesus said to the tree; "May you never bear fruit again!" The tree withered immediately, and the disciples were instantly amazed. They asked how the tree had withered so quickly and Jesus responded with this powerful statement: "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, Go, throw yourself into the sea, and it will be done. If you believe, you will receieve whatever you ask for in prayer."
Often we have a hard time having faith in our circumstances, especially when things seem bleak and frustrating. But we need to realize that we have the power to stand in faith against negativity in our lives. Faith can be easily attained if you only allow it to work. The moment that doubt enters in, all things that you had previously been fighting for will dissipate. So don't allow the Devil to get a foothold, the moment the slightest hint of doubt enters in, fight it off. Have faith and know that God can help you.
Dear Jesus, thank you for giving us faith, and the ability to stand in faith through good times and bad. Help us to fight off the Devil and his scheming ways of making us feel doubtful. Be our strength and our guide, and keep us protected through all moments in life.
