Boldness

Luke 11, Esther 5

In the Bible there are many examples of bold believers. People who were willing to give up everything they knew and would one day know, for the sake of their salvation. Believers who had such a boldness of faith, regardless of people around them who were doubtful or unbelieving. All throught Luke 11 are examples of people who used faith and boldness in their beliefs. Luke 11:5-13 states: Then he said to them, "Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, 'Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, because a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have nothing to set before him.' Then the one inside answers, 'Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children are with me in bed. I can't get up and give you anything.' I tell you, though he will not get up and give him the bread because he is his friend, yet because of the man's boldness he will get up and give him as much as he needs. So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" This entire passage talks about what happens when one uses boldness in asking. EVERYONE who asks will receieve, all you need to do is ask, and it will be given to you.

Esther is the story of one bold girl who was willing to give up her life for the sake of her family and friends. God blessed her with the opportunity to use her status and heritage to save an entire nation and grouping of people. She is a true testament to the proper usage of the boldness God blesses us with.

In life, God gives us many blessings. Boldness is one of those blessings, one that we should be proud of. If God calls us to do something in our life, even if it requires boldness, we should still step out and do it.

God, thank you for boldness, and thank you for blessing us with many examples of bold believers in our lives. You are a great God, you are a bold God, and you bless us in so many ways. Thank you, Amen.
